Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) has been left horrified after witnessing her beloved Martin Fowler’s (James Bye) fruit and veg stall ablaze.
It comes following a traumatic day at his funeral, where a number of tensions were bubbling beneath the surface.
Three of Walford’s women have confessed their love for him in the weeks following his devastating death during the Queen Vic explosion, each adamant that they were the one he cared about the most.
He’s a huge loss on Albert Square already – and it seems the devastation will continue for quite some time.
This was evident whilst Stacey stood at his graveside and paid tribute at the start of the week.
What happened at Martin Fowler’s funeral?
Pouring her heart out and scattering soil from his allotment into the burial site, Martin’s grieving partner Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton) had to keep her mouth shut for the sake of his nearest and dearest.
It was here that she began to realise that Stacey’s feelings towards her loss had been stemmed from his final words – which Ruby was previously told had concerned his future with her.

As viewers know, he actually told Stacey that he longed to reconnect with her, and that his reconciliation with Ruby was a mistake.
In today’s episode, the locals arrived home from the funeral and Ruby immediately questioned why Stacey’s teenage daughter Lily (Lillia Turner) hadn’t delivered the eulogy as planned.
Whilst she should’ve been at her mother’s side, a blazing row between them before hand led her to fly off the handle and sup vodka with her pal Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James) instead.
Their bond is more fractured than ever, and she refused to speak with Stacey.
Branding her mum ‘unstable’, she rushed off again.
Stacey Slater’s ‘final showdown’ with Ruby Allen
Eve Unwin-Panesar (Heather Peace) tried to offer Stacey some advice, but she didn’t want to hear it. Instead, she darted off to the allotment for some peace and quiet – but was met with quite a surprise.
Ruby had also retired there, and the two came head to head once again.

She demanded to know the truth about Martin’s last moments, and said she feels like a ‘mug’ for falling for someone who didn’t share the same feelings.
There seemed to be no way back between the two, and Ruby walked away to grab a bottle of wine.
Martin Fowler’s market stall is set alight
Later, we saw her necking the alcohol as she surveyed the tributes on his market stall.
Stacey attempted to build bridges with Lily, but the road to recovery could be a long one.
Eve had helped to put the children to bed, and Stacey requested some alone time. She walked into the living room and looked at a photo of Martin, before walking to the window.
It was then that she realised Martin’s stall was ignited, flames engulfing the memorial.
But who started the fire? Was this Ruby’s final move?
