Casualty fans have been left disappointed as the long-running medical drama has been taken off the air due to the Eurovision song contest airing live from Basel on the BBC.
This year’s hopefuls for the UK, Remember Monday, are hoping to nail victory for the country following years of dry spells.
Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a whole week for the 10th episode in the current run. However, it seems like the wait will be worth it for fans, as the synopsis for the next episode teases a whole load of drama.
“Rida suffers a traumatic day when Mr Whitelaw’s mask begins to slip, Flynn fights to save Anna’s life, Rash defends a patient, and Indie helps Iain on a special mission,” the synopsis reads.
Casualty usually airs on BBC One at 8pm – the same time the Eurovision Song Contest kicks off. However, fans have been left fuming that they have to wait a whole week – questioning why the show can’t be shown on Sunday – or on BBC Two.

BBC isn’t the only channel having a schedule shake up tonight. Britain’s Got Talent has also been pulled from ITV, meaning the show not have to compete with the final of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
Earlier today, viewers tuned into ITV to watch the FA Cup Final as Crystal Palace and Manchester City went head to head at Wembley. The football match kicked off at 3pm, but scheduling bosses have allowed for any run over time.

The match will be followed by Deal or No Deal Celebrity Special, Beat The Chasers, and The 1% Club, instead.
However, fans of the ITV talent show won’t have to wait as long as Casualty fans, as the penultimate semi-final will air tomorrow (Sunday, May 18).
Casualty fans have been left frustrated as the long-running medical drama takes an unexpected break due to the live broadcast of the Eurovision Song Contest from Basel on BBC. The decision to air the iconic music competition, which sees the UK’s entry Remember Monday hoping to break the country’s dry spell in the competition, has resulted in a one-week hiatus for Casualty, much to the disappointment of its loyal viewers.
Fans who had been eagerly anticipating episode 10 of the current season now have to wait an entire week for the next installment. However, it seems the wait will be worth it, as the upcoming episode promises a whirlwind of drama. The synopsis for the next episode teases a traumatic day for Rida, as Mr. Whitelaw’s mask begins to slip, Flynn fights to save Anna’s life, Rash defends a patient, and Indie helps Iain on a special mission. It’s shaping up to be an intense episode, and the anticipation is growing among fans.
This scheduling change has left viewers fuming, particularly as Casualty usually airs at 8pm on BBC One, which coincides with the start of the Eurovision Song Contest. Many fans took to social media to express their frustration, questioning why Casualty couldn’t be aired on Sunday or on BBC Two. One fan tweeted, “No Casualty on Saturday 17th all because of the Eurovision song contest which we never win, not amused.” Another added, “The BBC don’t care that we love Casualty, they could have put Eurovision on BBC 2!” Fans are upset that their favorite medical drama has been sidelined in favor of the much-anticipated music competition, especially when they feel that Eurovision could easily have been broadcast on another channel.
While Casualty fans are left waiting, BBC Two is showing the 2023 film The Boys in the Boat from 8-10pm, followed by The Untouchables, a 1987 thriller/crime classic. These programming shifts come amid an ongoing shake-up in television scheduling, with Britain’s Got Talent also being pulled from ITV to avoid clashing with Eurovision. Earlier in the day, ITV aired the FA Cup Final, where Crystal Palace and Manchester City faced off at Wembley. Scheduling flexibility was provided to accommodate the run-over time for the football match, but fans of ITV’s talent shows still won’t have to wait as long as Casualty viewers. The penultimate semi-final of Britain’s Got Talent will air on Sunday, May 18, giving fans their fix of the talent competition sooner than the Casualty crowd.

The delay has certainly sparked some passionate reactions among fans, but for now, they’ll have to exercise a bit more patience. Whether the suspense of the upcoming episode will be enough to make the wait worthwhile remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: Casualty fans are eagerly anticipating the return of the show and the drama that lies ahead.
