Emmerdale spoilers follow from Thursday’s episode (22 May).

Emmerdale‘s Belle Dingle may just be close to putting two and two together and exposing villain John Sugden’s murderous streak.

Tonight’s episode ended on an unsettling discovery for Belle, who returned from her trip to Scotland with an update about Nate Robinson.

The ITV soap previously revealed Nate’s dead body is currently at the bottom of the lake after John accidentally killed him and covered it up.

Everyone, his wife Tracy included, believed Nate had skipped town and moved to Scotland where he was supposed to start a new job.

In new scenes, Belle realised Nate never took on the new job in Scotland after asking around for him.

Returning to the village, Belle confided in Sam about her “revealing” trip, sharing her suspicions about Nate’s disappearance.

“According to the site manager of the wind farm, he never showed up for work,” Belle told her brother.

“And then apparently, he texted them a week later saying, ‘I’ve got a new job’,” she continued.

Belle insisted there had to be a reason as to why Nate would vanish into thin air given that he “adored” Frankie, the daughter he shared with Tracy.

“Nothing adds up, Sam,” Belle insisted.

When her brother asked her what she thought could’ve happened to Nate, Belle replied: “No idea, but I’m not gonna rest until I find out.”

As the Dingle siblings were sharing theories, the soap cut to John cuddling his husband-to-be Aaron in bed.

Suddenly, the guilt-ridden doctor had a flashback from the night of Nate’s death.

Clad in a dark hoodie, John is seen dropping Nate’s body into the lake.

Is it time for a reckoning? Or will John’s own guilt lead him to confess?
