OMG SHOCKING !!! Emmerdale star Beth Cordingly reveals how her original Ruby plan changed

Emmerdale star Beth Cordingly has revealed that she “never intended to do more than a year” on the ITV soap.

The actor made her debut as Ruby Fox-Miligan early last year, clearly making an impact in that time as she was nominated in the Best Leading Performer category at last night’s British Soap Awards.

During a new interview with The Mirror, Cordingly revealed that she originally planned to take the job for no more than 12 months because she was worried about commuting between Brighton and Leeds.

However, that deadline has now passed, with the actor admitting she didn’t know she would “fall in love” with it as much as she has.

“The problem is, I never intended to do more than a year. I took the job for lots of reason,” she said. “When my daughter and I decided I would take the job, I didn’t know I would fall in love with it the way I have.

“I don’t know if Emmerdale Village is built on a ley line or something but there is something really magical about that place. When you walk into the building, it’s a well-oiled machine and all the departments like costume and make-up, they’re always upbeat.

“Some shows I’ve worked on, there has been more of a divide between crew and cast, but at Emmerdale it’s very much one team.”

Cordingly also spoke highly of her on-screen husband William Ash, who plays Caleb Miligan, sharing: “He is one of the best actors of his generation and I feel incredibly lucky to be working with him. Every day is just easy and joyous.”

As well as landing a nomination in the Best Leading Performer category at last night’s British Soap Awards, Cordingly was also up for Best On-Screen Partnership alongside Ash.

The win for Best Leading Performer eventually went to EastEnders star Lacey Turner, while Rudolph Walker and Angela Wynter – who play Patrick and Yolande Trueman on the BBC soap – won Best On-Screen Partnership.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
