EastEnders spoilers follow for Tuesday’s episode (13 May), which is available

EastEnders has revealed just how Kathy Cotton and Harvey Monroe’s affair is exposed – as the couple are caught on camera.
After going behind Jean’s back for months, Harvey decided that he wanted to be with Kathy properly and pledged to tell his partner the truth.
But as he went home to confess everything, Harvey got a big shock when Jean got down on one knee and proposed to him.
In today’s episode, Harvey was stunned and was unable to give Jean an answer, so she ran off in tears.

Harvey faced questions from Alfie about what just happened, and when he expressed doubts about his relationship with Jean, Alfie reassured him that he was good enough – even crowning him an honorary Slater man.
Meanwhile, Kathy found a devastated Jean in the café and assumed that Harvey had come clean, but Jean revealed that she had asked Harvey to marry her.
Jean opened up to guilty Kathy and said that she felt Harvey doesn’t love her anymore, even blaming her bipolar disorder for him getting cold feet.
With Kathy advising her to get answers from Harvey, Jean returned home to have a proper chat about their relationship status.

Harvey told Jean that he can’t marry her, but when Jean broke down in tears about how she is struggling to keep the family together, he vowed to support her – which Jean mistook for him accepting her proposal.
The couple told Kat, Alfie, Lily and Freddie that they had agreed on a long engagement – but as the family celebrated, Kat looked suspicious of Harvey.
Harvey called round to see Kathy and updated her on what had happened, with Kathy left disappointed that he had ended up saying yes.

He made it clear to Kathy that it was her he loves, but they needed to end their affair, in fear of the damage it would cause if Jean found out.
However, what they didn’t realise was that Cindy was secretly filming their covert chat, and even got footage of them kissing.
