The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Emmerdale that hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX.
Ruby and Caleb Miligan (Beth Cordingly and William Ash) have reached a conclusion about Steph Miligan (Georgia Jay) in Emmerdale, after finding her in a critical condition.
After learning the truth about Anthony Fox, Steph managed to convince herself that if she had plastic surgery, she would rid herself of the reminder the evil man is her granddad and also her biological father.
Steph came very close to having a nose job this week, but it was stopped by Ruby and Caleb. She tricked her parents into thinking she was off on holiday, but Caleb worked out this was a lie when Steph gave him the wrong flight number.

At the hospital, once he learnt the truth, the doctor concluded that Steph’s operation wouldn’t be going ahead and sent her home. There, Steph had a go at Caleb and Ruby, and then set about bringing the date of her brow lift forward.
Tonight’s episode opened with Ruby and Caleb still wondering how to get their daughter some help. They were both aware if Steph spoke to a counsellor, there would be a chance she tells them about how Anthony died and therefore, put multiple lives at risk.
They eventually asked John (Oliver Farnworth) over, but his conversation with Steph really only made things worse. When she was alone, Steph started drinking and trashing Mill Cottage, utterly consumed by negative thoughts.

Steph was interrupted by Ross (Michael Parr), who tried to help her calm down. Her behaviour spiralled further as she started attacking Ross, and calling him a freak for having facial scars.
She then raced outside and got into her car. Ross tried to stop her, but he feared that Steph would hit him with the vehicle.
Ruby and Caleb found Steph outside the depot. By this point, she had trapped herself in the car with a smashed bottle of vodka. In a heart-breaking twist, Steph believed that if she damaged her face, she’d have no choice but to have the surgery she’s been desperate for.

An exhausted Steph was brought home and then went upstairs to rest. As Caleb and Ruby tried to process the events, they both knew they had reached a point where what they were doing, wasn’t enough for their daughter.
Ruby told her husband that she’d hand herself into the police so Steph could see a therapist. Caleb, in tears, was adamant that didn’t need to happen.
