Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) has been left devastated by fiancé Peter Beale’s (Thomas Law) words in EastEnders.
The couple have had quite a troubling time ever since the birth of their son Jimmy earlier this month.
Lauren’s labour didn’t exactly go without a hitch – mother-in-law from hell Cindy (Michelle Collins) was present throughout, despite being the one who had supplied her with drugs throughout her pregnancy.
Since Jimmy was welcomed in the world, Lauren has become convinced that her addiction has harmed him.
He won’t latch on to breast feed, and they can’t stop him from crying. As viewers of the BBC One soap will have gathered, a trip to the hospital will confirm what is wrong later this week.
In today’s episode, an increasingly tiresome Lauren spoke about her fears for the youngster’s health, though Peter just assumed that nothing was wrong.
He said that every child was different, and that they would find their way with him soon enough.
Outside, Cindy tried to worm her way back into their lives – and while Lauren seemed to briefly consider it, she asserted that she had bigger things on her plate.
Heading to the cafe, her emotions bubbled over and she broke down to Zack Hudson (James Farrar), admitting that she’s struggling.
When she returned home, she opened up to Peter, telling him that she was likely to be the problem, and that was the reason Jimmy was unable to bond with her.

Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) then arrived, and the women had an open and honest conversation about addiction and how it has impacted their parenting.
She also told Lauren to trust her maternal instinct, recalling the time she knew something was different with her youngest son Ollie prior to his autism diagnosis.
Following their chat, Lauren retired to the kitchen and Peter headed to speak to Linda about his own concerns. He said that he didn’t believe that she would ever be able to escape being an addict.
Little did he realise, Lauren had overheard every last word via the baby monitor.
