General Hospital Recap: Dante and Brook Lynn Make a Deal, Drew Draws a Line, and More!

Stronger Together

At the Quartermaines, Dante offered to track down traffic cam footage from Harbor View Drive on July 4th for Michael; if Willow’s vehicle was on that video, he said, they could place her at the estate the night Daisy went missing and use it in court. Entering the room, Brook Lynn wondered who was going to court, so Michael explained that they were discussing the upcoming visitation hearing. She questioned why Michael wouldn’t let Willow see the kids before then, and he defended himself by saying that his decision was based on Willow’s unstable behavior of late. After Michael left, Brook Lynn commented that her heart broke for Willow, leading Dante to suggest that Michael keeping his kids from Willow reminded Brook Lynn of Gio not wanting to see her. Dante added that everything he’s been going through with Rocco has made him realize that they need to hash things out with Gio, since giving their son space has only led to a wall between them.

Although Dante wanted to approach Gio together, Brook Lynn felt that their son would never forgive her for giving him up and there was a better chance he’d forgive Dante. Adamant that Dante  should reach out to Gio alone, Brook Lynn lamented, “I don’t want to be the reason that you don’t build a relationship with your son. So go to him and change his perception of you.” Eventually, Dante made Brook Lynn realize that to fix the “unfathomable” situation — which had also resulted in her fighting with Lois, Gloria, and Lulu — they had to move past all the anger, and that started by reaching out to their son together.

Baby Steps

While out for a run, Chase saw Willow sitting alone on a bench in the park and noticed how distracted he was. Willow disclosed that Elizabeth had instructed her to take the day off after she’d lost her temper and slapped Lucas. After explaining what led to the altercation, Willow appreciated Chase giving her the benefit of the doubt and seeing her side of things in being pushed too far. Turning the conversation to his own relationship, Chase divulged that he and Brook Lynn decided to adopt a baby, but put their plans on pause because of the complicated situation with Gio.

Packing On The P.D.A.

Curtis surprised Portia at work with an invitation to join him at a private tasting that night from her favorite reality show chef. Excited for their date, she rewarded him with a kiss. Seeing the reunited couple’s embrace from the hub, Isaiah shook his head, not fully trusting Curtis’s commitment to Portia. Later, Dr. Gannon asked Portia how Curtis’s friendship with Jordan fit into the equation of their reconciliation. Whatever could have happened between Jordan and Curtis was over, Portia insisted, and she and her husband were moving forward. It seemed as if Isaiah had something more to say, but with a forced smile, he instead complimented that being happy looked good on her — but once the chief of staff walked away, it was clear from his expression that he still had concerns about Portia’s marriage.

Meanwhile, Curtis ran into Michael, who was at G.H. for bloodwork, and filled him in on the truce he’d made with Drew. Curtis thanked his friend for supporting him during the rough patch with Portia.

Home Sweet Home

Anna brought a housewarming gift to Jordan’s new apartment and was surprised to learn that her friend was not only paying a high mortgage but also working with a pricey interior designer. After working as a public officer for most of her career, Jordan shared, she was enjoying the bigger paycheck that came with her new job in the private sector. She also divulged that while working for Sidwell began as an undercover op, she was enjoying what she was doing for his business. Anna cautioned her friend not to be seduced by her cushy new lifestyle and wondered if Jordan would be able to extract herself if she did uncover her boss’s illegal activities.

Later, Curtis arrived to check out Jordan’s new digs. She wanted him to “inspect every inch of this place” — with the double entendre lending to a charged moment between them

Spy Games

At the Metro Court restaurant, Laura was dumbfounded that Ezra organized a voting bloc to stop a library expansion, and he arrogantly revealed that he planned to sign Laura’s failed resolution into effect himself come November, when he’s voted in as the new mayor of Port Charles.

Across the dining room, Drew informed Kai that he was halting his plans for Measure C while he and Scout relocated. Kai wondered how being separated from her family would affect Scout, and Drew stated that since Alexis wanted custody of the tween, he needed to put distance between them so that Scout wasn’t caught in the middle of any tension. He’d already lost so many people, Drew added, and his daughter was his world, so the best thing he could do was move them to D.C. as soon as possible to protect their relationship. And once he was gone, Drew told his intern, he expected Kai to be his “eyes and ears” in Port Charles and report back everything he learned, politically or otherwise.

Forgive And Forget?

Donna was thrilled to see Gio when Sonny took her to the pool. She reminded him of his promise to play violin at her birthday party. Gently, Gio explained that his violin was broken, and he couldn’t play, but assured her that he would still attend her party. While Donna was having a swim lesson, Sonny told his grandson that it was okay if he didn’t go to the party since Dante and Brook Lynn would be there. Gio replied that he wouldn’t miss Donna’s party, even if he was still struggling to accept Dante and Brooke Lynn as his parents. Offering Gio advice based on his own experience with Dante, Sonny suggested that there’s no obligation to “make nice” with his parents, but if he ever decided to reconcile, Dante and Brook Lynn were open to it.

After the hospital, Michael went to the pool to check on Donna’s swim lesson and also checked in with Gio. Sharing a bit of his own complicated parental history with Sonny, Michael encouraged his nephew to let go of his anger at Dante and Brook Lynn before it crippled him.

Despite Curtis asking Stella not to meddle in Trina’s love life, she asked her great-niece about the breakup with Kai while they chatted at the pool bar. Opening up about the split, Trina filled in Stella on what Kai overheard between her parents and how, even though they’d agreed to stay out of it, he told Drew about Curtis and Portia’s plan. Unable to get past the betrayal, Trina expressed her disappointment that Kai placed his loyalty to Drew over his loyalty to her. Feeling that Kai should be forgiven for making a bad decision when he had good intentions, Stella suggested that Trina speak with him when he showed up at the pool, but Trina instead left the table. Alone with Kai, Stella shared that she thought he could still win Trina back, but he needed to try harder. He began by asking Trina to share an iced tea with him before she left for the library. Although she turned him down, Trina did thank him for offering, giving Kai a glimmer of hope.

No Presents Necessary

While Donna was at her swim lesson, Sonny went to the restaurant, where Laura gave him a hard time for not saying hello. As they discussed their public vs. private friendship, Laura asked Sonny if the rumors were true about what he did to Marco. Rather than give her a direct answer, Sonny revealed that he was trying to protect Laura, not wanting his actions to impact her negatively. Laura acknowledged that she had to prevent organized crime in the city, but that Port Charles was better off with Sonny in power than Jens Sidwell. “The most frustrating thing for me,” Laura confided, “is that I can’t just say that.”

Sonny stepped away when Anna arrived to meet Laura. Explaining how she advocated for Obrecht to have supervised visits with Rocco, Laura asked for Anna’s opinion on whether she’d done the right thing. Anna mused that Liesl has “evolved” over the years and believes the woman has genuine regret for her past actions.

While having lunch with Molly, ADA Turner received a phone call from her assistant that a basket of expensive bath products had been delivered to the office. Despite there being no name on the card, Justine told Molly she suspected Sonny was the sender since he’d taken her to the ER after she twisted her ankle during a recent softball game. Finding the gesture inappropriate, Justine later warned Sonny that as a public official, she could not and would not accept gifts — and would prosecute him for harassment if he sent any in the future.

Vengeance Is Mine

Meanwhile, Ezra sat down at Drew’s table, and they gloated about how Boyle was closing in on Laura in the polls for the upcoming mayoral election. When Ezra wondered why ridding Port Charles of Sonny was so personal for Drew, the congressman revealed that his brother Jason and the mobster are both dangerous and destructive, and neither of them has ever been held accountable for their actions. That will happen with him, Drew declared.

While Ezra was on a phone call, Molly approached her former brother-in-law, hoping to reach a compromise to allow the Davis girls to see Scout. Drawing a hard line, Drew stated that they were too far past any kind of compromise, thanks to Alexis trying to undermine his relationship with Scout. “Given the reality of our current situation, the very best thing to do is to move Scout to D.C., where she can have no contact with her grandmother or her aunts,” Drew cooly informed Sam’s sister.

Spotting the police commissioner and the mayor sitting at the bar, Ezra approached with the news that Laura’s resolution to expand the library suddenly had enough votes to pass — and accused her of having had Sonny pay off council members. As the women laughed off the absurd claim, a smug Ezra declared that when Laura was exposed for protecting Sonny, the mayor’s office would be his, and he’d make replacing Anna as police commissioner his first order of business. As Boyle walked away, Laura and Anna shared a concerned look.
