Dales star Lawrence Robb has exclusively spoken to Inside Soap about what the future holds for
Mackenzie Boyd and John Sugden as the feud between the pair rages on.
Viewers have recently seen John vow to take revenge on Mack after the village mechanic uncovered
that he lied about his former fiancé, Aidan Moore.
As John continues to hide his twisted ways, is Mack doomed to join his list of victims? Star Lawrence Robb reckons that both John and Mack should watch their backs…
Hi, Lawrence! Can you tell us what Mack thinks about Aaron and John’s relationship?
Mack is best friends with Aaron so there’s an element of protective behaviour from him here. He’s never really seen eye-to-eye with John ever since he arrived in the village.
I remember that in one of John’s first episodes, Mack tried to attack John with Nate – but John, with his army training, made it clear that that wasn’t going to happen. So from the start, Mack has never really warmed to him, and he definitely doesn’t want to see his mate get hurt by someone he feels he can’t trust.

Do you think there’s any jealousy there?
I’d like to say no, but I guess in any friendship dynamic, as soon as a new partner arrives on the scene, there’s always a bit of, ‘Oh, you’ve not got quite as much time for me as you once did.’ There’s probably a bit of resentment on that basis, but I don’t think that’s fuelling Mack’s opinion of John, because he didn’t like John even before Aaron and him got together!

What has the viewer reaction been to Mack versus John?
For the most part they’re supportive of Mack. I’ve had a couple of people say to me, ‘You’re toying with death, aren’t you?’ because they know that John is dangerous, and Mack is pretty gobby with his opinions. If John was capable of killing someone, I think Mack would be quite near the top of the list!
Do you think Mack is in danger?
100 per cent he is. And I’d like to say that John’s in danger as well…
