Emmerdale fans will be left shocked after Vinny Dingle looks set to tell a massive lie in tonight’s (Wednesday August 13) after he suffered a violent attack. Fans of the ITV soap will know that the the long-serving village resident has been confused about his sexuality recently, after developing a crush on Kammy Hadiq and things took a turn for the worse earlier this week.
Even though he is engaged to Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham), he has been experimenting with Mike (Macaulay Cooper), whom he met on a gay dating website. Vinny mistakenly believed there was a connection brewing between the two, especially as they both appeared to be going through the same thing when it comes to their sexuality, but it all turned out that Mike was only ever after his money.
It comes as a confrontation saw Mike accuse Vinny of inviting him over just to sleep with him, and, although he denied this, Vinny suddenly realised he had disclosed a wealth of sensitive secrets to this man. Mike beat Vinny, and brutally told him: “You lot are vermin. That’s why you followed that trail of poison I laid down for you.

As viewers know, Gabby has spent the night away from the village and makes her return on Wednesday night, which has conveniently given Vinny the chance to clear up the mess that has been left behind. Instead of calling the police on Mike, Vinny had started to provoke Kammy outside, in the hopes that he would throw a few punches. But this didn’t happen, and later on, the two had a tearful confrontation which ended up in Vinny sending his friend away.
Just towards the end of the episode, Vinny was seen scrolling through the website of the local police, seemingly considering reporting Mike for his actions. But he didn’t go through with it, and it looks as though he may actually be going through with framing Kammy (Shebz Miah) for the whole thing.
Before all this unfolded, in episodes aired earlier this week, it didn’t take Vinny long to realise Mike had a dark side, Vinny attempted to make a run for it, but he was caught pinned him against the back door – as Mike made a shock confession about his identity.
“My name’s not Mike and I haven’t got a fiancé who’s going to chuck me out, but you do,” he said in a threatening tone. “So you better start listening.”
We then saw Vinny lying on the floor, as it was apparent he had been struck down by Mike. He then forced an extremely Vinny to put his passcode in his phone so he could take 10k from him to “keep his secret”.
As Mike left, Vinny was left lying on the floor crying in pain. When viewers next saw him, he was seen breaking down in tears as he received terrifying flashbacks of his abusive biological father Paul punching him.
