Danniella Westbrook has launched a fiery rant about exes, admitting she’d throw a party if one died as she took aim at Angie Bowie’s tearful reaction on Celebrity Big Brother.
The former EastEnders star, 50, reflected on one of the most talked-about Celebrity Big Brother moments from Series 17, which aired in
2016, when Angie Bowie broke down on camera after hearing the news that her ex-husband, music legend David Bowie, had died.
Danniella spoke exclusively to Daily Star in collaboration with casino.org and recalled: “Because we had no contact with the outside world, it was so confusing.
“I couldn’t understand why Angie was getting so worked up. They hadn’t been together for like 25 years or however long it had been.”
She then dropped a line that is sure to raise eyebrows: “If someone said to me, your ex-husband is dead, I’d have thrown a party! Especially if they had tried taking my kid off me and stuff like her ex-husband did. I mean, you know, I love David Bowie, but I didn’t understand where Angie was coming from. It was a bit dramatic.”
It is unclear which ex-husband Danniella is talking about here, as she has two, Ben Morgan (1998-1999) and Kevin Jenkins (2001-2014), but her frankness comes as no surprise to fans who have followed her turbulent love life over the years. The star’s romantic history reads like a rollercoaster of highs and lows, with a string of relationships that have all left their mark on her life.
Danniella’s love life has certainly been headline-grabbing over the years. One of her most notorious relationships was with Brian Harvey, the former East 17 singer, which made waves in the tabloids during the 1990s. Their romance was passionate but turbulent, setting the tone for much of the public interest in her private life.
The star’s love life has kept fans guessing, most recently with bare-knuckle boxer Chasa Symonds, before their brief but intense romance came to an end. Prior to that, she was engaged to cage fighter Tom Richards, and in 2023 she also had a relationship with a wealthy businessman from Turkey, adding yet another high-profile chapter to her colourful dating history.
She also told us: “I’d love to meet someone who’s not a clout chaser, someone genuine who isn’t obsessed with social media or has a massive ego. Just someone real, with a bit of drive. Someone who doesn’t want to suddenly be an actor or go on Big Brother once you’ve lived with them, you know, suddenly they want to give up everything they’re doing and become famous.
“When you get to 51, and you think you’ve found “the one” – like I thought I had not too long ago – and it doesn’t work out, it knocks you a bit. So now, I’m just trying to find that spark and energy again.”
