Hollyoaks star Jeremy Edwards has shared his hopes to return to the soap for its 30th anniversary special this autumn.
Edwards, who played Kurt Benson, last appeared on the soap as it was celebrating its 25th anniversary but the actor admits he was “very vocal” about his frustrations over the script.
Speaking on the Secure the Insecure podcast (via The Sun), Edwards explained: “I wrote to the casting and said I wanted to go back, because they brought me back, but unfortunately it was still COVID time.
“I know the script went awry and we had to change it, and I was supposed to be there for a lot longer, and I just ripped off Tony and left, which I was not happy about, and I was very vocal about not being happy about that.
“So I asked to go back to the 30th, but I haven’t had a reply, and they’re doing a tour apparently.”

Edwards went on to add that he’s not been asked on the 30th anniversary tour in October which has so far confirmed Gary Lucy as one of its guests.
“It’s a shame, though, because I really thought for the 30th, I wanted to do something special because it will always be special to me and I’ll always be that guy everywhere I go and get it every day,” he said.
“Every day someone says the word Hollyoaks to me. Seriously.”
Back in 2021, Edwards had teased that he could return to the soap to make up for his short stint during COVID.

“What I was doing got cut short because of Covid. I will be back at some point but I can’t say more than that,” he told OK! magazine.
“I also think a lot of people weren’t happy with the end of the storyline. I did get a huge amount of positive stuff and loads of fan clubs were set up,” he added.
“When I go back I’ll be in a better place, I’ll look better and have a bigger storyline.”
