Hollyoaks spoilers follow from Tuesday’s episode, which is available to watch now on streaming service Channel 4 and hasn’t yet aired on TV.
Hollyoaks has aired two major twists involving Joel Dexter, which turn his dramatic storyline completely on its head.
This week, fake therapist Tommy resumed his blackmail scheme, demanding that Jez stops Joel and Leela from getting back together or he will expose his killer secrets.
Joel caught Jez snooping in Tommy’s flat for his incriminating tapes, and after some bombshell revelations, Joel decided to listen to the recordings privately.
He confronted worried Jez with the new evidence, having heard him say on tape that he enjoys killing people.

There was relief for Jez in today’s episode, when he realised that Joel thought Tommy had manipulated these recordings – just as he had with him and Leela.

But Joel was keen to go to the police with this new evidence to expose Tommy, and Jez was naturally reluctant to do this, as viewers know what he said on the recordings is true.
Joel resigned to hand himself in for Billy’s murder and end this ordeal, but Jez stalled for time and suggested that they go out for a drink first.

However, in a shocking twist, Peri found out that Billy had in fact never died, spotting him when he returned to hospital with an infection.
Jez and Joel went to The Loft for a night out, and while recovering addict Joel initially vowed to stay off drugs, he was soon tempted by Jez, and he relapsed.
But Jez faced pressure from Tommy, who showed up dressed as The Reaper and gave him a strict deadline to kill Leela if he wanted to protect his own secrets.

Meanwhile, Peri told horrified Leela that Billy was still alive. Leela found Joel outside the club and was devastated that he was high – but she told him that he couldn’t hand himself in for Billy’s murder as he wasn’t dead.
Joel was completely blindsided that he had been lied to and told Jez that he was going to kill Tommy for his deception.
He confronted Tommy about Billy back at his flat, and as Tommy compared him to his bullying brother, Joel began violently attacking him.
