A fall out of a window, a bleed on a brain, a severely injured pelvis and a few days in a coma were not enough to change Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) for the better in Emmerdale.
Yesterday, Joe woke up in his hospital bed for the first time since Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) pushed him from a window at Home Farm. At first, Joe claimed to Kim Tate (Claire King) that he couldn’t really remember much, but that changed when he asked Dawn to visit.
When she got there, Joe wasted no time in confirming to Dawn that he knows she pushed him. This left her to desperately try and explain herself in the hope Joe wouldn’t tell the police.
Once Dawn told him everything, Joe revealed that he wouldn’t send her to prison. Instead, he wanted Dawn to let him prove that he can be a better partner, rebuild their trust, and have better relationships with her children.

With Joe covering for the actual culprit, he realised there was a chance to frame a completely innocent person during tonight’s episode.
When Noah Dingle (Jack Downham) visited Joe, they started talking about his report to the police. Moments prior to Joe’s fall, the police had arrived to see him due to Noah telling them about the spiking in February.
Joe used this to his advantage and told Noah that if he didn’t retract his statement, he would tell the police that he pushed him. The move shocked Noah but he then played Joe at his own game. If he was going to keep quiet, he wanted something else in return.

Back in the pub, Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) quickly got caught up on Noah’s visit to the hospital, and then learnt his sibling had offered him a wad of cash as part of their deal.
Charity was stunned. Noah and Joe share the same father, but he’s always thought of himself as a Dingle. Proving that he could be bought, however, was a sign to Charity that Noah has more Tate blood running through his veins than she thought.
