EastEnders is gearing up to air dramatic car crash scenes as a new trailer confirmed someone is going to drive off a bridge.

A fresh clip for the BBC soap included anxiety-inducing scenes where a silver car drives through the streets at night. The journey comes to a tragic end when the unknown driver seemingly loses control of the vehicle, sending the car off a bridge and into the lake.

EastEnders didn’t share the identity of the driver in the teaser, but it’s safe to assume that the life of whoever is behind the wheel hangs in the balance.

It is not known whether the driver is alone in the car or is riding with other passengers, whose lives could equally be in danger.

Fans on Twitter/X started guessing which character’s time on the Square could be up.

Some viewers suggested the accident’s potential victim could be Stacey Slater after Lacey Turner recently announced she’d leave the soap this year.

“It’s time for myself and Stacey to take a rest and who knows what Stacey will get up to in her time away? Knowing Stacey, it will never be boring,” Turner told The Sun earlier this week.

Meanwhile, EastEnders producers confirmed the door will always be open should Turner decide to reprise the role of Stacey.

“We can confirm that Lacey will be off-screen later this year, but there is plenty of more drama to come beforehand and we will look forward to planning Stacey’s return when Lacey decides the time is right,” they said in a statement.
