Hollyoaks’ Stephanie Waring undergoing treatment as she announces health battle
Hollyoaks star Stephanie Waring has bravely shared her health battle as she told her followers that she’s currently undergoing treatment. The soap star, 47, updated fans on Instagram as she revealed that she is now perimenopausal.
After quietly struggling with unexpected hair loss, Steph has now opened up about the physical changes she’s been experiencing and the steps she’s taking to reclaim her confidence.
The longtime Hollyoaks actress recently revealed that she began to notice her hair thinning significantly, especially while showering, prompting her to seek medical help. “Even though I’ve got short hair, it just is all falling into place,” she shared.

“Before I got it caught, my hair was… I was losing a lot of it in the shower. So I was shredding quite a lot.”
Steph was stunned to learn she was going through perimenopause, admitting: “I was in perimenopause and I didn’t even know that was. I had never even heard of it before.”
Turning to the British Hair Clinic for answers, she began a non-invasive treatment called PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy, which involves using a patient’s own blood to encourage regrowth and strengthen hair.
Steph has been a familiar face on British screens since 1996, when she debuted as Cindy Cunningham in the very first season of Hollyoaks. But her time on the show came to an emotional end last year, following a major cast overhaul. The actress said she was heartbroken by the decision and pleaded with producers to let her stay.
“I was very distraught, I didn’t take it well – I was probably the most dramatic person they told,” she confessed in an interview with The Sun. “I just kept telling them ‘I’m an original character’… I was clutching at anything – telling them ‘but I was the first person to give birth on the show’.”
Seeing how affected she was, Steph could tell the news hadn’t been easy for producers either: “I could see the distress I was causing them because they were upset that I was so upset.”

Stephanie Waring was axed from Hollyoaks last year
Steph recently admitted that while she misses her time on the show, she has entered a very different chapter and now works a regular job helping other people. Sadly though, her new job will never reach the levels of passion she had for her acting career.
Taking to social media, Stephanie recently revealed she is now a life coach after being asked by fans what she has been doing for work since being axed by the soap. “I thought ‘good point’,“ she said. She added: “What work do I do? The first thing that came to my head was ‘I’m an actor’. That’s all I’ve known for the last 30 years and when I lost my job last year, I knew I would be in a place of vulnerability.
“Because it wasn’t guaranteed that I was going to get another role and go onto the next project and the next project. It’s really hard out there. It’s not easy. And that’s one of the reasons why I stayed in Hollyoaks for so long, because it was security and I was doing what I loved every single day. And I didn’t even question it.“

Stephanie added: “So when I became vulnerable, I thought ‘What else can I do that would give me purpose? And something that I was passionate about?’ I’ve dealt with a lot of mental health in my life and when I decided to train as a life coach, I thought that this would help me in that respect and it did. I was my first client.
“All the tools that I’ve learnt that’s helped me become a better version of myself – well I hope I have anyway, I think I’m just a work in progress, I think everybody is. I wouldn’t say I’ve got it all figured out. There are things that I’ve learnt and that’s why I developed the hand book, it’s a six-week reset that can help anyone who’s feeling a bit stuck. Just to the point, tips and tools. It’s not about that. I just wanted to jump on and be a bit vulnerable, I suppose.“
