John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) has covered his tracks pretty well in Emmerdale but underestimating his new colleague could prove to be his downfall.
The character, as viewers know, has a hero complex, whereby he orchestrates situations by putting people’s lives in danger before swooping in last minute to play the saviour.
He has endangered the lives of various villagers, including colleagues Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) and Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant), spiked Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and set Ella Forster (Paula Lane) up.
But while the aforementioned characters escaped John’s schemes with their lives intact, Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) wasn’t so lucky, with the farmhand having died before John could play the hero.
Last week saw John, fed up of being the GP receptionist, set up a scenario where he proved how ‘valuable’ he was to Liam, who subsequently urged him to stay at the surgery – albeit in the role of a doctor.

Claudette Anderson (Flo Wilson) therefore landed the role of the receptionist, which could be bad news for John – but good news for fans.
Why? Because Claudette sees everything.
The character’s penchant for getting involved in situations which don’t concern her, listening to the local gossip and putting two and two together have all become key aspects of her character, making her a show icon in the process.
All of this makes her the perfect villager to play a role in his downfall.
Much like he does everyone else, John will no doubt underestimate Claudette, having no clue that she’s watching – and documenting – his every move.

With that in mind, will Claudette perhaps spot something sinister and report back?
Will she overhear John getting up to no good as he sets in motion his next scheme? Or will she maybe learn that he nominated himself for a hero award?
Will Claudette prove instrumental in John’s downfall?
