Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Wednesday’s episode (April 16), which is available to watch now on streaming service Channel 4 and hasn’t yet aired on TV.
Hollyoaks has confirmed what happened to Maxine Minniver, after her fate was left up in the air in a shocking cliffhanger.
Undercover copper Dodger faced the ultimate test in his quest to prove his loyalty this week, after Grace told him to shoot Maxine, who told the police about Robbie’s kidnapping.
In horrific scenes, Dodger did as he was told, and Maxine fell to the ground after taking a bullet in the chest from her ex-lover.
Dodger began to cover up Maxine’s death in today’s episode, placing her resignation letter on her desk in Dee Valley Law and planning to explain that she had taken a job abroad.

Rex was upset and felt that his sister had gone too far this time, but Grace was cold and insisted that Maxine brought it on herself.
Dodger arrived and confirmed that all bases had been covered, and he was heading to a composting plant to get rid of her body.
He drove Maxine to a quiet location – where it was revealed that she was still alive, and was wearing a bulletproof vest when Dodger shot her.
The plan was to get Maxine and Minnie away, with Dodger joining them when it is safe. But Maxine felt guilty, knowing that she was leaving Mercedes in prison for a crime she didn’t commit.

Maxine told a heartbroken Dodger that they can’t be together when she leaves and encouraged him to forget about her.
Before her exit, Maxine visited Mercedes and told her that Grace now thinks she is dead. She explained that she was leaving for good with a new identity, and that she would confess to killing Abe when she gets out the country.
Mercedes was overwhelmed by Maxine’s kind gesture and pledged to repay the favour by taking down Grace herself when she is released.
Sienna brought Minnie to Maxine, who said her emotional goodbyes before leaving for a ferry, which would take her to France – with her eventual plan to be with her mum and her half-sister Mitzeee in America.

Dodger promised Maxine that he would find out what happened to his granddaughter Victoria. However, viewers then discovered that the girl was much closer to home, under the care of none other than DI Banks.
After Maxine’s exit, will Dodger be able to complete his undercover operation?
Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
