SHOCKING TWIST!!! BBC Casualty’s Tariq Hussein star insists ‘fans will understand’ character’s ‘dark’ turn

Tariq Hussein (played by Manpreet Bachu) quickly became a fan favourite when

he joined Casualty back in February. As the cousin of Rash Masum (Neet Mohan) he already

had a connection to Holby ED and he quickly made his mark proving popular with both staff and viewers of the long running BBC medical drama.

However recent events have seen his previously cheeky character appear to take a dark turn. Yasmin, the patient he has been seeing against protocol, fell from a height while they were partying. This in turn led him to involve Rash as he tried to cover his tracks and created a huge mess.

It has been a huge twist for the character, who had previously seemed to be a charmer. However, Manpreet feels that the fans will understand his actions and the character can win them back over.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk he said: “If they do [get turned off the character], I feel like, for what’s to come with Tariq I can get them [the fans] back, because they’re going to see he’s not doing anything from a place of malice or ill intention.

“I just think he can be very flawed as a person, and I think everyone can relate to that. Everyone’s got flaws and not a lot of people can think as calculated as Rash does.

“I think he just kind of lives in the moment and I think more people relate to that,” he speculated.

With Yasmin’s fate hanging in the balance and Rash deeply upset at being dragged into Tariq’s sordid affair he acknowledges the medic may be pushing his luck.Casualty spoilers (August 16)

“I would say he takes it a bit too too far with his recklessness and… I feel like he’s, he’s really testing fate.

“He’s really treading on thin ice and I think that that kind of excites him, in a way,” he said of Tariq’s actions.

“But I feel like the fans will understand the bigger picture with everything with Tariq because you start to see there’s more that goes into it.

“And you start to realise the storylines about his character and family, everything – all the grey areas start to get built in.

“It’s unfortunate because we’re going to see a big flaw from Tariq right now, but I’d like to think there’s redemption that will happen, and the audience are going to slowly start to understand where that’s come from and also what he’s doing.”
